Abstract

In an increasingly unstable world, the predicament of refugees and asylum seekers largely remains a demanding global challenge. As persons flee wars, persecution, and conflict in their countries of origin, the principle of non-refoulement chips in to guarantee respect and protection of their fundamental rights. Non-refoulement is rooted in international law and outlaws the expulsion or return of refugees or asylum seekers to a country where their life, freedom, or human rights would be threatened. This article examines the significance of non-refoulement, exploring its legal framework, historical context, and its role in safeguarding the rights of displaced persons.
