Abstract

This research investigates the patterns of migration from rural villages to urban cities in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region of the Philippines. By employing a comprehensive data analysis approach, this study aims to uncover the key factors influencing migration dynamics and understand the implications for regional development and governance. Drawing upon a dataset of migration patterns and socio-economic indicators from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and other relevant sources, the study employs quantitative methods to examine the drivers of rural-to-urban migration. The findings reveal distinct patterns of migration, highlighting the significance of factors such as economic opportunities, education, infrastructure, and social networks in influencing migration decisions. Furthermore, the research uncovers the impact of migration on the rural areas, including changes in demographic composition, labor market dynamics, and access to services. These insights contribute to a deeper understanding of the migration phenomenon in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region and provide valuable insights for policymakers, urban planners, and local governance actors to develop effective strategies and policies that address the challenges and harness the opportunities arising from rural-to-urban migration.
