Abstract
This study aimed to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with technology integration in teaching practices among Department of Education (DepEd) teachers in Zamboanga City, Philippines. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, including a survey of DepEd teachers and focus group discussions. The study findings revealed that while teachers recognized the potential benefits of technology integration, several challenges hindered its effective use, including inadequate access to technology, poor internet connectivity, lack of training and support, and limited time for technology integration. The study identified several opportunities for improving technology integration, including enhancing technology access, providing training and professional development opportunities, and fostering a supportive organizational culture. The study underscores the importance of addressing socio-technical and organizational factors that influence technology use in teaching practices, emphasizing the need for a multi-faceted approach to improve technology integration. The study's recommendations provide a framework for enhancing technology integration in teaching practices, which includes ensuring adequate technology access, providing training and professional development opportunities, and support from school administrators and policymakers. Overall, this study contributes to the literature on technology integration in education and emphasizes the role of government intervention in promoting equitable access to quality education.
