Abstract
This study explores the integration of generative AI tools into the manuscript writing process and determines its implications on creativity, efficiency, and ethical considerations based on the perspective of researchers. The researcher selected authors with published papers in the Southeast Asian Journal of Science and Technology (SAJST) and Asian Journal of Multidisciplinary Research (AJMS) with 49 responses out of 78 invited. The study reveals that a substantial 86% of authors have adopted generative AI tools, reflecting a growing recognition of their potential to enhance the writing experience. A significant number of authors reported moderate to significant time savings, highlighting AI's role in expediting content creation and grammar checking. Opinions on the quality of AI-generated content varied, emphasizing the need for ongoing development in refining AI capabilities to meet human expectations. Ethical considerations, particularly related to plagiarism and authenticity, were prevalent, underscoring the authors' ethical consciousness amidst the integration of technology. Transparency emerged as a key theme, with authors expressing a willingness to disclose AI use even in the absence of a requirement to do so, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining the integrity of their work. While satisfaction levels with AI-augmented writing experiences varied, a considerable number of authors indicated a readiness to recommend AI tools to peers, suggesting recognition of their potential benefits in augmenting creativity.
