Abstract
Expired dairy products are often disposed off or frequently thrown away due to the potential health hazard. The inability to salvage useful components from them is another reason why manufacturers discard outdated milk products. Milk consists of a number of distinct components, each with unique functional qualities that can be used in the development of food as well as non-food technological goods, such as fibre, cosmetics, and medications. The objective of this study is to develop a novel strategy for protein extraction from damaged milk products using the liquid biphasic flotation (LBF) method .Whey is another waste produced by the dairy industry. It is obtained as a by-product from the process of making cheese and casein. Yet, this waste product includes some vital ingredients like lactose and protein. In this study, the process of ultrafiltration was used to separate lactose and protein from whey with high yield and purity . To increase the protein yield in the retentate, which was subsequently freeze-dried to produce the finished product in dried form, ultrafiltration in a diafiltration mode was used. With this innovative methods, waste goods like old milk and also other waste items may be converted into raw materials that benefit both the economy and the environment. This extracted protein, lactose can be used for the production of bioethanol, bioplastics etc.
