Abstract

This short contribution reviews Ronald Trosper's recent book, Indigenous Economics: Sustaining Peoples and Their Lands.

Ronald Trosper accurately describes Indigenous Economics as his “capstone book” (p. xii). The book aggregates, expands, and in some cases refines insights from Trosper’s nearly fifty-year career in natural resources and tribal economics. Looking back, Trosper sees the centering of relationships as the common thread across a vast array of actual Indigenous experiences and histories, and he offers this alternative worldview as a path to more sustainable, healthy living for everyone.

Keywords: tribal economic development, Indigenous economics
