Abstract
In this interdisciplinary exploration of the concept of abundance, the paper unravels its essential role in shaping human existence, societal structures, resource accessibility, and choice. Drawing from psychoanalysis, neuropsychology, existential and transcendental thought, and cultural analysis, and leveraging insights from Jacques Lacan's "master signifier", Jean Baudrillard's simulacra, Timothy Leary's consciousness exploration, as well as the physiological underpinnings emphasized by Abraham Maslow and recent neuroscientific studies, the paper underscores the transformative potential of abundance. Recognizing abundance as a necessary value establishes a novel narrative for the individual and a fresh discourse for society at large. Distinct from excess, abundance is postulated as a balanced and growth-oriented paradigm pivotal to understanding human psyche, societal narratives, and quality of life. Conversely, the negation of the idea of abundance and the imposition of deficit-mindedness lead society towards deviations, dogmatism, and radicalization. The findings advocate for a broader embrace and understanding of abundance over prevailing notions of deficit and excess, emphasizing its profound implications for holistic human flourishing.
