Abstract

There is little debate that the world today is in a perilous situation. Multiple nations with nuclear weapons, or attempting to gain nuclear weapons, are at odds with one another. There seems to be little interest on the part of most of those parties to advance human civilization and settle things down. In fact, aggressive statements from the leaders of China, North Korea, Russia and Iran would indicate that the dangerous situation is becoming worse by the day. The end of what was labeled the “Cold War,” was considered by historians and political pundits to have happened in 1991, with the collapse of the Communist experiment, the USSR. While there is no official date for the start of Cold War II, the United States and its allies must face the fact that world is certainly there now. Examining key points of the history of the Cold War and how it was “won,” may help to craft a path forward to winning Cold War II.
