Abstract

Fermi arcs of topological surface state in the three-dimensional multi-Weyl semimetals are investigated systematically by a continuum model. We calculated the energy spectra and wave function for bulk quadratic- and cubic-Weyl semimetal with a single Weyl point. The Fermi arcs of topological surface state in multi-Weyl semimetals are derived analytically. We demonstrate that the number of the Fermi arcs emitting from any Weyl point equals its winding number. In addition, the topological Lifshitz phase transition of Fermi arcs concerning boundary condition parameters is revealed clearly, and the critical point for Lifshitz transition in multi-Weyl semimetals is determined. Our theoretical results demonstrated explicitly the relations between boundary condition parameters and Fermi arcs in multi-Weyl semimetals, which may provide a new route to modulate the topological surface states in future experimental research.

Keywords: Fermi arcs, topological surface states, multi-Weyl Semimetals, Lifshitz transition
