Abstract
The effect of hot pressing (HPing) holding time on the microstructure, mechanical and electrochemical properties of ZTC4 titanium alloy were investigated. The results show that HP treatment could effectively heal pores, increase sample density. The highest tensile ultimate strength, yield tensile strength, elongation and lowest corrosion current of the sample at room temperature are 688 MPa, 793 MPa, 16.8% and 0.29 µA/cm2, respectively, when HP holding time is 1h, which is markedly better than that of ZTC4 sample (722 MPa, 790 MPa, 12.3%, 21.66 µA/cm2), indicating the promise of utilizing low-cost HP technology for high-performance titanium alloys.
