Abstract

This paper explores the core elements of blockchain relevant for managers, highlighting its role in decentralization. It evaluates the conflict between the emerging forces of decentralization and artificial intelligence. This paper argues that managers need to balance short-term efficiency from centralization technologies like AI with the longer-term innovation potential facilitated by decentralization technologies like blockchain. The optimal level of decentralization should be determined based on an evaluation of these competing priorities.
