Abstract

The proposal introduces the Instagram Data Donation (IGDD) project at the Data Donation Symposium at the University of Zurich. The project aims to enhance online safety for adolescents by collecting and annotating their Instagram data through a platform designed with human-centered principles. This ecologically valid dataset provides insights from teens’ Instagram interactions to train machine learning models to detect online risks. The proposal includes empirical studies that leverage the data donation approach to online safety.
