Abstract

After the announcement by the Finance Minister in 2019 of the establishment of a Social Stock Exchange, things moved fast. The working group and technical group soon released their report in 2021 laying down the framework of the proposed SSE. In July 2022, SEBI amended the ICDR, LODR, and AIF regulations, bringing the concept to the statute book. The SSE has arrived in India. All of this happened within a few years. I had analysed the concept of an SSE in an article written for the Taxmann whose presentation summary is available on Academia. With the concept now becoming a reality, it is time to revisit and re-analyse.
