Abstract

The aim of this paper is to compare ideas, discourses, and expectations related to technological change in the case of AI policies in Latin America. To the question: How do six Latin American policy documents compare in their ideas and discourses about AI? The answer explores how particular visions are communicated in AI strategies and policy documents, but those visions typically have nothing to do with AI, but rather with longstanding trajectories. The Latin American countries adopt ideas and reveal their national visions. Thus, this paper presents a typology of countries and groups them according to similar approaches to AI ideas.
