Abstract
The mechanical properties of glass fiber composite structures prepared by vacuum forming manufacturing process are influenced by various factors and have a certain degree of dispersion, resulting in unclear durability characteristics when applied in corrosive seawater engineering. Based on the standards of the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM),the article conducted artificial seawater aging tests at room temperature and accelerated aging tests at 60℃ temperatures on glass fiber specimens of commonly used 430 epoxy bisphenol A vinyl resin and 1967 polycyclic pentadiene resin. Based on International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the degradation characteristics of strength, modulus, and impact toughness of the two resin specimens under different aging cycles of room temperature seawater and 60℃ high-temperature seawater were tested through a series of mechanical performance tests such as bending, compression, shear, and impact. The article summarizes the differences in the durability and mechanical properties degradation of glass fiber composite structures under two types of resins in seawater and analyzes the impact of high-temperature seawater at 60℃ on the durability of glass fiber specimens.
