Abstract

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to create and disseminate news. AI is therefore becoming a key technology in the media industry. What does this mean for a democratic society that relies on trustworthy media and is committed to plurality? We see dangers in the use of AI. But AI tools can also have a positive impact on media policy. Media regulators can use AI to intervene more objectively and smartly. In this paper, we set out concrete proposals for media regulation in times of AI.

Keywords: AI, artificial intelligence, media policy, media regulation, media law, democracy, public discourse
