Abstract

Using nationally representative data on Time Use Survey in India, we have quantified the proportion of people who spent time on religious activities across gender, age, religions, and socioeconomic statuses, such as social group and consumption class. We highlighted the differences in the proportion of people who spent time on religious activities across all states of India and across four major religions in India, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, and Sikhism. We also measure how much time people spend on collective religious activities across all groups. Gender and age differences were also considered.
