Abstract
The risk of hunger continues to be a latent problem with a growing trend and it is of interest to governments and science to find the reason why it is affecting millions of people in the world. This problem is not only a consequence of food scarcity, but also of the way food is consumed and valued, that is, of the cultural patterns that guide behavior at the time food is consumed. The objective was to analyze the behavior of social actors in the process of generation and consumption of food waste and identify behavioral patterns that improve the management of sustainable food systems in Metropolitan Lima 2022. The strategy used was awareness workshops and application of a questionnaire to a sample of 310 students from a public university. It was found that 50% of young people responded that they have worried about not having enough food in the last year, this situation presumes that they would be in a state of mild food insecurity and many of them are not aware. The awareness of the students contributed to forming agents of change in food consumption styles and their eco-environmental assessment; A technological means is proposed that connects vulnerable populations with food production centers, through which they can locate offers of healthy, nutritious and cheap foods that are considered waste, reducing the impact of environmental pollution by preventing many of them become unvalued organic solid waste.
