Abstract
We introduce the autofocusing beams array called the Masked Pearcey beams Array (MPBA) and investigate its autofocusing capability both theoretically and experimentally. By increasing the number of superimposed Pearcey beams within a certain range and then using a circular aperture of appropriate size, the main lobe part of the initial plane of the array can be masked. Compared to the unmasked Pearcey beams array, the MPBA has superior autofocusing capability. Increasing the offset of the Pearcey beam relative to the center allows for the exploitation of its self-accelerating behavior post-flip in its side lobes, thereby achieving the objective of manipulating the beam's focal length. More importantly, we experimentally generate the MPBA and its autofocusing properties are verified. This work presents a practical solution for improving the autofocusing ability of abruptly auto-focusing beams and flexibly regulating the focal length.
