Abstract
Although various methods have been devised to increase the reaction property of semiconductor photocatalysts, their exact processes in controlling photocatalytic reactions have remained difficult to explore. The synergistic effect of photocatalytic selective oxidation of toluene on Fe2O3-PtOx-TiO2 photocatalyst was investigated in this paper. Fe2O3-PtOx-TiO2 composites were synthesized using a simple impregnation and calcination. Hence, Fe2O3-PtOx-TiO2 composites not only improves optical absorption, but also promotes the separation of photogenerated carriers. The properties of the synthesized catalysts were appraised by photocatalytic selective oxidation of toluene, and the Fe2O3-PtOx-TiO2 catalyst showed the benzaldehyde formation rate of 1588.0 μmol·g-1·h-1 in pure toluene solvent.
