Job satisfaction among Degree College Librarians of Dharwad District: A study

Abstract
Job satisfaction can be defined as extent of positive feelings or attitudes that individuals have towards their jobs. When a person says that he has high job satisfaction, it means that he really likes his job, feels good about it and values his job dignity. Job satisfaction is important technique used to motivate the employees to work harder for achieving the institutional objectives. In this study an effort has been made to measure the level of satisfaction among the librarians of degree college libraries of Dharwad city on various aspects of job. The survey research design was adopted for the study. The findings of the study reveal that even though most of the librarians express satisfaction on several aspects of the job but they are very displeased with the disparity that exists between the teaching faculty and the library professionals, in terms of status, academic opportunities, research support etc.
