Abstract
The chapter proposes the political empowerment of constituencies in drug development as a potential method to democratize healthcare innovation and access to science. By analyzing a parent-led partnership with scientists to fight against a cholesterol metabolism disorder affecting children (the NPC collaboration), the chapter reflects on legal tools to limit corporate influence and control and address political inequality in decision-making processes.
