Abstract

The essence of a Copyright is to protect intellectual property of someone and to stop it from being reproduced and sold by unauthorised persons. It therefore enables the author of the work to enjoy the fruit of his/her labour. Copyright does not protect ideas mere ideas, but it protects the expression of an idea in a tangible form. However, the unfair taking of the results of the application of human intellect may infringe more than any one single right. Copyright provides a very useful and effective way of exploiting a work economically. It also provides a mechanism for allocation of risks and income from the sale of the work.
