Abstract

Taxation is so fundamental to sustainable development. This is true because taxation affords government an avenue for the strategic generation of revenue required for the development of any country. In Nigeria, tax is a major source of revenue generation. It is a source that Nigeria government at all level rely upon to generate funds to execute one form of project or another. The importance of taxation to any organised human society cannot be over emphasised. A proper and working tax system with willing and committed individuals and corporate organisations is a giant step towards a society with a stable and blossoming economy. It is disheartening that irrespective of the huge tax revenue in Nigeria, the Nigerian society is still suffering from serious infrastructural deficits. Consequently, this research work carried out a legal appraisal on the nexus between taxation and good governance in Nigeria.
