Abstract

The precipitation plays a crucial role in TP climate system, which links to the energy and water cycle over the TP. In recent decades, the warming and humidification over the TP is closely related to the multi-scale variations of the precipitation difference between the northern and southern TP. This study investigates the multi-scale variation on Difference of Precipitation between the Northern and Southern TP (DP) based on site observational data, remote sensing data and reanalysis data. The result shows that. On decadal scale, as the important forcing factors, the AMO (Atlantic Multi-scale Oscillation), PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation) are related to decadal variations of DP significantly, representing as DP index (DPI) lags PDO by around 10 years and exceeds AMO by around 10 years, therefore, the signal of SST (Sea Surface Temperature) anomalies can be used as a forecast factor for the decadal variation of the precipitation difference between the northern and southern TP.Key words: Tibetan Plateau, precipitation, multi-scale, decadal variation.
