Abstract
The effects of Nb on the steam oxidation kinetic behavior of FeCrAl alloy were studied. Nb addition significantly decreased the weight gain at 1200 °C. Nb addition also promoted the formation of Al2O3 and suppressed the growth of Fe and Cr oxides, resulting in the thinner oxide film in the heating stage. Also, the oxide film is much easier to wrinkle at 1200 °C. In addition, pre-formed Nb2O5 promotes the formation of discontinuous granular Al2O3 in oxide films and substrates.
