Abstract

In the context of utilizing internet at public places, it becomes essential to identify the nature of applications used by the client. This helps in enhancing security by detecting potential malware applications and facilitating the regulation of undesired application usage by the client. This can be aided effectively using machine learning and artificial intelligence embedded to networking devices such as router, switch and access points. However, prevailing machine learning algorithms are intricate and challenging to deploy seamlessly in real-time on hardware. This paper introduces an innovative approach that suggests some pre-processing techniques to develop lightweight machine learning models, compares real-time computational complexity in different existing Machine Learning models to predict applications that an user is currently using and execute it in real-time on an embedded system in an optimal manner.
