Abstract
In this study, fully dense and crack-free M247 superalloy was manufactured by electron beam selective melting method (EBSM). The microstructure and mechanical properties of the different processing parameters of EBSM and cast components were investigated. X-ray computerized tomography (CT) results indicate that in EBSM-deposited samples, micropore defects typically cluster at the bottom and top, with defects being eliminated at an energy density of 960 J/m. In addition, the EBSM deposited samples exhibit superior mechanical properties than casting samples due to the finer grains and a greater abundance of finer reinforcing phases γ′.
