In-Situ Ebsd Study on the Plastic Deformation Characteristics of Cr Coating for Accident Tolerant Fuel Cladding

Abstract
The plastic deformation behavior of a Cr coating was investigated by in-situ tensile testing accompanied with EBSD. The misorientation in the grains of Cr coating gradually increased with tensile strain, associated with {110}<111> slip mechanism. The degree of lattice distortion varied between grains, indicating microscopic heterogeneity in plastic deformation. Besides, high dislocation density and local misorientation were mainly distributed near the Cr grain boundaries, due to the interaction of dislocation slips against grain boundaries. Meanwhile, the rotation paths of the Cr coating grains were in-situ measured and analyzed, which was dependent on grain orientations and the deformation compatibility among adjacent grains.
