Visible-Light-Induced Decarboxylative Radical Polymerization in Two-Molecule Photoredox System

Abstract
Radical polymerization via the photoinduced decarboxylation of carboxylic acids was achieved in a two-molecule photoredox system using visible light. In this photoreaction, unique polymers with chain ends derived from amino acids, peptides, sugars, and steroids were obtained under mild conditions. In addition, a two-molecule photoredox system for replacing both electron donor and acceptor, led to selective decarboxylation, facilitating the preparation of block copolymers with different segments.
