Abstract
Organic coatings with strong weather resistance, long life and high anti-corrosion efficiency are of great significance for practical applications. This work proposes to integrate multifunctional nanocontainers into polyurethanes to construct novel intelligent anti-corrosion coatings with anti-corrosion self-diagnosis, self-healing, anti-UV and hydrophobic properties. Mesoporous silica multifunctional nanocontainers loaded with CeO2 and Phen were introduced into the hydrophobic polyurethane coating. Once corrosion occurs, Phen molecules are released in a timely manner and combine with Fe2+ to create a red complex that inhibits corrosion anode and accomplishes the function of corrosion self-diagnosis. CeO2 has anti-ultraviolet and cathode inhibitory properties. Moreover, the coating's hydrophobicity, UV resistance, and weather resistance are all significantly increased by the addition of CeO2@SiO2/Phen. S-S bond is introduced to make PU coating self-healing. This work presents a well built nanocontainer that realizes the integrated versatility of a coating. The coating's long-term efficacious anti-corrosion characteristics are attained by utilizing the combined anti-corrosion and anti-ultraviolet properties of CeO2 and Phen's anode and cathode inhibitors, in addition to Phen's corrosion self-diagnosis function and the self-healing function of dynamic disulfide bonds.
