Abstract
In this paper, the effect of B element content (x=0, 0.04, 0.1 and 0.2 at.%) on the microstructure, corrosion resistance, and passive film characteristics of AlCrFe2Ni2Bx high-entropy alloys were investigated. The results showed that as-cast AlCrFe2Ni2Bx high-entropy alloys transformed from typical grain structures with distinct grain boundaries to dendritic structures. The inter-dendritic regions significantly increased with higher B content, accompanied by a remarkable grain refinement during the transformation. In 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution, the increase of B content from 0 at.% to 0.1 at.% favored the corrosion resistance, and the B content of 0.2 at.% slightly weakened the corrosion resistance. This can be attributed to the changes of microstructural and difference in passive film composition.
