Abstract

Something strange is happening in U.S. politics. Vice President Kamala Harris is being nominated as the Democratic Party candidate in the 2024 election through an unprecedented political process. That process, and what it tells us about electoral legitimacy, holds implications not only for an election cycle initially cast as a referendum on democracy, but also for the hope of genuine democratic reform.
