Abstract

This article examines the critical role of responsible artificial intelligence (AI) in contributing to global sustainability efforts, particularly in the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It explores the potential of AI to address pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges while emphasizing the risks associated with irresponsible AI implementation. Through an analysis of case studies, ethical frameworks, and emerging trends, this paper argues that only the responsible use of AI can meaningfully contribute to Sustainability. It proposes a comprehensive framework for the ethical development and deployment of AI systems in sustainability contexts and discusses the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration, policy-making, and continuous evaluation in ensuring AI's positive impact on global sustainability efforts.
