Abstract

This research paper delves into the fascinating realm of project management, investigating how project managers' competencies influence the success of their projects. In addition, it explores the underlying mechanisms that mediate and moderate this relationship, Specifically, the mediating role of project commitment and the moderating effect of transformational leadership are examined. Design/Methodology/Approach: To gain insights, a quantitative research approach was employed, involving the collection of data through a well-structured questionnaire distributed to project managers and team members across various industries. The data was then analyzed using statistical techniques & tools. Findings: The study uncovers significant findings, highlighting the substantial impact of project managers' competencies on project success. It reveals that project managers who possess a higher level of competencies tend to foster stronger project commitment among team members, ultimately leading to enhanced project success. Furthermore, the research identifies project commitment as a vital mediating factor in the relationship between project managers' competencies and project success. This suggests that when project managers exhibit superior competencies, they tend to evoke a sense of dedication and engagement within their teams, which positively influences the overall project outcomes. Moreover, the research uncovers the moderating effect of transformational leadership on the relationship between project managers' competencies and project success. Transformational leaders, through their inspirational and motivational behaviors, amplify the positive impact of project managers' competencies on project success by creating an empowering work environment. Practical Implication: This study suggest that organizations should prioritize the development of project managers' competencies and foster a culture of transformational leadership. By doing so, organizations can enhance project success rates, gain a competitive edge, and thrive in the ever-changing business landscape.
