Abstract
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in content moderation presents both promising advancements and significant challenges for online platforms. This paper explores the legal and ethical dimensions of AI-driven moderation systems, focusing on issues such as algorithmic bias, transparency, accountability, and data privacy. AI offers increased efficiency and scalability, enabling platforms to manage vast amounts of content, but concerns arise when these systems unfairly penalize certain user groups or lack transparency in decision-making. The paper highlights the importance of balancing technological innovation with ethical considerations and regulatory compliance, particularly in light of frameworks such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Digital Services Act (DSA), and Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). It advocates for a multidimensional approach, combining advanced machine learning with human oversight to ensure fairness and accountability in content moderation.
