Abstract

In recent years, additive manufacturing has achieved the reliability needed to compete with traditional production methods for mechanical components. The geometric freedom offered by these techniques has transformed the design of compact heat exchangers. Bioinspired structures, such as gyroid lattices, are particularly promising due to their lightweight nature and enhanced heat exchange area, which promotes turbulence in the coolant. This work examines how key design parameters of gyroid lattices affect heat exchange performance, comparing numerical and experimental results. Samples were successfully printed using low-cost Material Extrusion. The findings highlight the effectiveness of gyroid lattices in enhancing heat exchange in cylindrical pipes, offering design guidelines for various applications.
