Abstract

This research paper describes about Mahatma Gandhi's relevance amid the Indian politics resistance in post-independent India and his portrayal after 2014 in the Indian politics. The paper depicts that Indian political parties of different ideologies try to show that they are closer to the ideology and thoughts. Why do Indian political parties want to show closer to Mahatma Gandhi? What are their interests behind this? Which are the political parties are really follow Mahatma Gandhi's model for all around development of India after the independence of India? Indian National Congress or Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) or someone else? If one political party follow the ideology, the other political parties criticize the follower party of Mahatma Gandhi. On one side, Indian National Congress regard Mahatma Gandhi as its brand for political mileage and political publicity, while on the other side, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to follow and aware about the ideology, teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, nationalism, welfare society, healthy society, healthy nation, value of culture, love all, hate none, non-violence, Gram Swarajya, welfare State, mutual harmony among people of all religions & castes but no apartheid, cleanliness, moral values, religion and politics for the welfare of mankind, etc. Today in the Indian politics, Mahatma Gandhi is the paramount part of Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while Indian National Congress used to use name of Mahatma Gandhi after the Independence India and Gandhi's great contribution for the independence of India for vote Bank only till 2014, but after 2014, Bharatiya Janata Party, under nationwide program 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' on the occasion of 75 th Anniversary of Indian Independence, is trying to portrayal Mahatma Gandhi as true statesman, true saint and his contribution, thoughts and teachings of cultured society, nonviolence, cleanliness, value of religion, love all, hate none and uplift the nation and weaker section of the society and nation as well among the masses of India in different programs and days, and moreover, Bharatiya Janata Party is regarding Mahatma Gandhi's contribution in each areas from freedom struggle of Indian to cleanliness drive and his relevance in the present time to follow him. Mahatma Gandhi, who himself had decided to dissolve Indian National Congress after the Independence of India, was against Indian National Congress as he knew that cunning and opportunist Congress leaders would use Indian National Congress as a political party for vote banking by its publicity as free India, while Indian National Congress is not a political party but a social front for chase away the British from the land of India in which people of all societies, intellectuals, freedom fighters, indigenous organizations, male-female sections of different communities, people from different religions and regions had gave their contribution and sacrifice for the independence of India.
