Abstract
To achieve a high-resolution silicon-based microdisplay with high color depth, this paper presents a novel pixel circuit that employs dual data voltages and consists of seven field-effect transistors and two capacitors (7T2C). The circuit utilizes a voltage programming method to generate the required driving voltage using two data voltages, allowing the driving transistor to produce the pixel current. A compensation scheme is adopted to mitigate the influence of threshold voltage variation in the driving transistor on display uniformity. Simulation results based on 55nm CMOS process indicate that the pixel circuit can generate 11-bit grayscale pixel currents within a data voltage range of 2.72V, with pixel current errors ranging from -9.04% to +9.67% under Corner FF and Corner SS. Furthermore, the proposed pixel circuit achieves a high-definition resolution of 3680 pixels per inch (PPI).
