Abstract

Bommier and Schernberg (2024) accuse a group of authors studying the application of ex post egalitarian social evaluation to the problem of unequal longevity of having used unethical methods to succeed in publishing policy conclusions which are "unpublishable," such as killing all the unproductive elderly. This rejoinder focuses on the substance of their disapproval with the targeted analysis and relegates a rebuttal of their attacks on deontology to the appendix.

Keywords: ex post egalitarianism, unpublishable, inequalities, longevity
