Abstract

Platinum based metal nanoclusters (NCs) have great potential applications. We report a novel method to fabricate Pt/Cu NCs with size of 1.6 ±0.4 nm in a high yield of 1.2 g/h by using a continuous reaction in a tubular static mixer. Cu ions can boost the reduction of Pt ions significantly. It takes only ~5 seconds to fully reduce Pt ions assisted by Cu ions, while it usually takes ~30 minutes for the Pt ions without adding Cu ions. The fast reduction rate makes it possible to fabricate Pt/Cu NCs continuous in a high flow rate.

Keywords: noble metal nanoclusters, thiolate, continuous synthesis
