Abstract

Philosophers, scholars and political activists have flirted with the idea of revolution for some time. They have explored the political, social, and constitutional implications of this idea and in certain cases, advocated revolution. In the western world this interest intensified with the American and French revolutions of the late 1700s. Much of the theoretical work on revolutions is a reaction to these political developments.
