Abstract

This study examines the role of constitutional justice, specifically constitutional courts, in recent illiberal democracies from a comparative perspective. It emphasizes that the lack of independence of these courts in the studied cases has contributed to the deterioration of the rule of law and democracy within their own institutions, following similar patterns in. most of the cases. Additionally, the paper explores how to rethink the functions of constitutional courts and suggests ways to enhance their accountability.
