Abstract
The durability of La(Fe,Si)13-based magnetocaloric alloys in magnetic cooling devices requires further improvement mainly due to the material’s susceptibility to corrosion in water-related heat transfer fluids. This study proposes an electrophoretic deposition method to deposit graphene oxide coatings on LaFe13.9Si1.4 thin plates under various applied voltages. The coating prepared at an applied voltage of 5 V exhibited significantly improved corrosion resistance, slightly reduced thermal conductivity, and almost no change of magnetocaloric properties. This work demonstrates that graphene oxide coatings can serve as effective corrosion-resistant coatings for La-Fe-Si magnetocaloric alloys, offering guidance to ensure the integrity of magnetic cooling devices over long term.
