Basalt Fibers in Concrete Composites: A Brief Review

Abstract

This paper presents some recent developments in the area of utilization of basalt fibers in cementitious concrete. Basalt fibers retrieved from the natural basalt rocks have shown potential for research opportunities in the field of preparing sustainable concrete. Extensive literature review is carried out on the usage of basalt fibers in concrete. The review reflects some remarkable improvements in strength & durability properties of cementitious concrete. Efforts are made to highlight the areas evolving futuristic research investigations in the field.
