Abstract

This paper will examine the applications of virtual reality (VR) within healthcare, focusing on medical education. In a climate where it is becoming more apparent that innovative approaches to teaching are put to the forefront, VR technology creates an outlet for medical students and professionals in which they can interact with clinical simulators that provide realistic learning environments. Through the creation of safe skill-practice spaces, VR increases competence, confidence and readiness for action in real-world situations. These are not only specific to the medical field but also encompass almost every sector where VR training applications can be adopted. The study discusses potential ways by which VR technology could lead to substantial improvements in medical training, such as surgical simulations, interactions with patients and a student's understanding of anatomy through VR. We also talk VR empathy for providers to walk a mile in a patient's shoes. Key difficulties of VR integration into medical curricula and components leading to successful implementation are discussed. And, In the end, this study shows that VR could play an integral part in transforming medical education for more knowledgeable and compelling and experiential resource for learning medicine.
