Abstract
As the volume and diversity of data grow at an unprecedented pace, new technologies have emerged to manage and analyze
enormous data collections captured across a range of domains. In particular, big data technologies challenging existing business
analytics models are increasingly implemented on cloud infrastructure with significant thrusts from AI, machine learning, and
workflow management techniques. However, to exploit these techniques in practice, the necessity for scalable performance, geodistributed
storage, and disaster recovery compellingly encourages platform providers toward dynamic decentralized cloud
topologies. This chapter analyzes potential pitfalls and capabilities of future cloud infrastructures and offers an optimal practice
for creating next-generation business intelligence projects fully harnessing the advanced big data technologies applied in cloud
environments, converging and delivering a variety of service models. Supportive projects focusing on advanced industry
demands, proposed as tools-as-a-service, will be introduced and detailed, providing both benchmarking performance analysis, as
well as a demonstration of best practices for non-experts.
