Abstract

A new Schiff base linked polymer, P-phenylenediamine-Terephthalaldehyde (PPTE), was synthesised for the inaugural time. To assess the corrosion inhibitory effectiveness of PPTE on low-carbon steel in 1 mol·L-1 hydrochloric acid solution, we assessed weight loss and utilized electrochemical methods (EIS and PDP).The results showed that the peak corrosion inhibition efficiency attained 97% at a dose of 40 mg·L⁻¹. The inhibitor molecules created a hydrophobic protective layer on the low-carbon steel surface, according to contact angle measurements. DFT and MD were used to identify where the inhibitor molecules adsorb, how they adsorb on low-carbon steel, and what happens when they do.
