Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the strategic impact of academic accreditation on education quality and graduate outcomes in Arab universities. It investigates whether academic accreditation has contributed to improving educational outcomes and enhancing graduate preparedness for labor market demands. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through surveys from students and employers, along with interviews with faculty members and accreditation officials. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired T-tests and correlation analysis to measure differences in student performance before and after accreditation, while qualitative data provided insights into the administrative and teaching challenges faced by faculty. The results indicated a statistically significant decline in student performance following accreditation, with average student scores decreasing from 70.2 to 65.3 (p = 0.031). Furthermore, 40% of employers expressed dissatisfaction with the practical skills of graduates from accredited institutions, highlighting a gap between academic training and market requirements. Faculty members reported an increased administrative burden associated with accreditation, which impacted their ability to focus on teaching innovation. However, a minority (30%) of respondents acknowledged that curriculum improvements were implemented to align with accreditation standards. Based on these findings, the study recommends reassessing accreditation criteria to prioritize practical skills development, reduce bureaucratic requirements, and foster stronger collaboration between universities and employers. Future research should explore the long-term effects of accreditation on graduate success in diverse sectors.
