Abstract

As the world becomes more and more of a global village, religious diversity remains both a source of enrichment and a challenge for societies globally. The United States, as a nation built on the principles of religious freedom and pluralism has long recognized the importance of fostering mutual respect and understanding among people of different faiths. One powerful yet often overlooked tool for promoting religious tolerance is religious tourism.By facilitating meaningful encounters between individuals of diverse religious backgrounds, religious tourism has the potential to bridge cultural divides, dispel stereotypes, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the shared values that unite humanity. This article explores the significance of religious tourism as a means of fostering religious tolerance, highlighting its relevance to the United States and the international community. Religious tourism, also known as faith-based tourism, is a powerful tool for fostering religious tolerance, intercultural understanding, and global peace. As people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds travel to sacred sites, participate in interfaith dialogues, and experience the religious traditions of others, they cultivate a deeper appreciation for different belief systems. This dynamic form of engagement enhances personal spiritual experiences and strengthens diplomatic and societal efforts to promote religious freedom and mutual respect. Given the United States' commitment to religious liberty and its diverse religious landscape, religious tourism is particularly significant for both national and international peacebuilding.
